Providing for the Future
When Central Mountain High School was built in 1999, the only outdoor athletic facilities built were tennis courts, and the only outdoor physical education space completed was very limited in area. Almost all outdoor athletic practices (with the exception of tennis) and competitions must occur “off-campus”.
Outdoor physical education classes must carefully schedule the use of their less than adequate outdoor space on a poor surface - or even in the parking lots. Now is the time to provide for the future of Central Mountain’s students, and for the communities of Southern Clinton County.
With the sale of Painter Stadium and matching grant funds from the Commonwealth, the foundation has finally been laid for development of an appropriate sports and physical education complex that can house all physical education programming, athletic events and community gatherings. Not only must a new football facility be built, but baseball and softball fields and appropriate practice facilities need to be completed as well.
